On-site prompt
A polite, accessible dialog that offers guests to save their cart by email when they're about to leave, so you can recover carts from visitors who never reached the checkout.
- Cart page with items, as a guest
- Mouse moved out of the top of the window
- "Save your cart for later?" with the email field, Save my cart and No thanks
- Touch delay set to 20 seconds
- Product page on a phone
Who sees it
The prompt is shown only when all of these are true:
- The visitor is a guest with products in their cart, and hasn't given an email yet.
- Cart tracking and guest carts are on in the Free plugin.
- The page is one of the selected Pages. Never the checkout, account or order pages.
- It hasn't been shown to this visitor within the frequency period.
Visitors who don't qualify get no extra markup or scripts at all.
When it opens
When the mouse leaves through the top of the window, as if heading for the tabs or address bar, and at least 3 seconds after the page loaded.
Touch screens have no "about to leave" signal, so the prompt opens after a period of inactivity instead. Touching, scrolling or typing restarts the timer. With the default of 0 it never shows on touch screens.
It never opens while the visitor is typing in a field, and never twice on one page.
Settings
Turns the prompt on.
Cart page, Product pages, Shop, category and tag pages, Other pages.
0 never shows the prompt on phones and tablets. 15–30 seconds works well.
Per visitor. After they save their cart, it stays away for 90 days.
Save your cart for later?
Leave your email and, if you don't finish your order, we'll send you a link straight back to your cart.
Save my cart · No thanks
Thanks! Your cart is saved.
We only use your email to help you complete this order. Shown under the field, with a link to your privacy policy page when one is set.
Live preview
The Live Preview card in the sidebar shows how the prompt looks to a guest, and updates as you type. Save to publish. It previews the text only, not the page or trigger settings.
- When to Show: Show the prompt, Pages, touch delay, Show at most once every
- Content: Heading and Message
- Live Preview in the sidebar
What happens after saving
The email goes through the same secure capture as the checkout, so the guest's cart is recorded immediately. If they leave, they get your recovery email or campaign like any other shopper.
Accessibility & privacy
- A native modal dialog with a proper label and description. Focus moves to the email field and returns when it closes.
- Closes with Esc, the × button, "No thanks", "Continue shopping" or a click outside.
- Errors are announced to screen readers. Tap targets are at least 44 px, and reduced-motion settings are respected.
- One cookie,
siteryn_acart_prompt, stores only a date, so the prompt isn't shown again too soon. - Works with page caching. WooCommerce already excludes visitors with a cart from the cache.
Theme developers can restyle the dialog with CSS variables: --siteryn-acart-onsite-bg, -text, -muted, -border, -accent, -accent-text and -error.
