Schema Templates
Create schema once and apply it to many entries with display conditions, write your own JSON-LD, or import it from code or a page. Values come from each entry through variables.
Turn on Schema Templates under Pro Features (off by default). This builds on the free Schema Generator.
Creating a template
- New Template
Pick a type from the gallery (the 19 schema types), or the Custom JSON-LD or Import tab.
- Fill the fields with variables
e.g.
%title%,%featured_image%,%meta:event_start%. A live preview uses a recent entry. - Name it and set conditions
Template name is for you ("Events in the Events category"). Add at least one Include condition.
- Save
Save Template, then Save Changes to publish.
- Template cards with type chip, conditions and On switch
- The editor with Display Conditions
Display conditions
| Condition | Value |
|---|---|
| Entire site | — |
| Content type | e.g. Posts, Products |
| Category or term | Taxonomy and term slug, e.g. Category / events |
| Single entry | Entry ID |
| Address starts with | e.g. /events/ (the full path, including a subfolder install) |
A template applies to entries that match any Include and no Exclude condition. An entry that already has its own schema of the same template type keeps it. Template items that miss a required value on an entry (e.g. an Event without a start date) are left out on that entry. Up to 50 templates.
Custom JSON-LD
Write any schema.org type in a code editor, with variables filled in from each entry:
{
"@type": "Event",
"name": "%title%",
"description": "%seo_description%",
"image": "%featured_image%",
"startDate": "%meta:event_start%",
"location": { "@type": "Place", "name": "%meta:venue%" }
}
- Every entity needs an
@typewith a plain name (e.g.Event, not a URL). Up to 20 entities and 50 KB. @contextis added for you; an@idis added when missing. "Main entity of the page" makes it the page's main item.- Custom items are always printed; empty variables print as empty text.
Import schema
The Import tab: paste JSON-LD or a page's HTML (Paste Code), or load a public page (From a URL, administrators only). Click Find Schema, tick the entities to keep and Import Selected. Each becomes a custom item to review before saving. Imports also work in an entry's own SEO box.
About & mentions
A post's WebPage gets about (its first category) and mentions (up to 10 tags), each with its archive address, telling search engines and AI what the post is about.
Structured data conflicts
The Site Crawl checks every crawled page's JSON-LD and lists:
- Blocks that aren't valid JSON.
- The Organization or WebSite described in several separate blocks (more than one plugin outputs structured data).
- The same
@idused for two different entries. - Two or more main entities of the same type (e.g. two Product items).
- Items missing a required property.
