Troubleshooting
Solutions for the most common issues. System Status shows your provider, key, connection and usage at a glance.
Provider messages
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| No AI provider is configured yet. | Choose a provider, save its key and a model on the AI Connector tab. For Custom, enter the endpoint URL too |
| The AI provider rejected the API key. | Create a new key in your provider account, check its permissions, and save it again |
| Your AI provider account has no remaining quota or credit. | Add billing or credit in your provider account |
| The AI provider is rate-limiting requests. | Wait a minute. For bulk jobs, raise Pause Between Batches |
| The request limit set on the AI Connector tab has been reached. | Wait for the hourly or daily reset (UTC), or raise the limit |
| The AI provider took too long to respond. | Try again, choose a faster model, or raise Request Timeout |
| The selected model is not available for this API key. | Click Refresh models and choose one from the list |
| The AI provider returned a response that could not be used. | Try again. With reasoning models (such as gpt-5 or o-series), raise Maximum Response Tokens to 4000 or more |
| The AI provider declined to generate this content. | The provider's safety filter refused; adjust the product details |
| The AI provider is temporarily unavailable. | Try again in a few minutes |
| The AI provider could not process the request. Check the model and settings. | Choose another model, or lower Maximum Response Tokens if the model has a smaller limit |
| The provider endpoint must use HTTPS. | Use an https:// Endpoint Base URL for the Custom endpoint |
| This content is already being generated. Please wait for it to finish. | A request for the same product and content type is still running; wait for it |
Extra details from the provider appear after "(Provider said: …)". With Log Provider Errors on, errors are also in WooCommerce → Status → Logs.
The saved key "can no longer be decrypted"
Your site's security keys (salts in wp-config.php) changed, for example after a migration. Paste the API key again and click Save Key.
Test Connection fails
- System Status → Outbound HTTP requests: if blocked, allow your provider's host in
WP_ACCESSIBLE_HOSTS. - Custom endpoints must use HTTPS and a public address.
- A Custom key is tied to the endpoint's host. After changing the host you get "The endpoint URL changed since the API key was saved. Enter the API key again to use it with the new endpoint."
- Test Connection uses the provider and model currently shown on the tab, even before you click Save Changes.
Generate gives the same suggestion every time
Identical requests reuse the cached answer for free (60 minutes by default). Change the product details, change any setting, or set Response Cache to 0.
The AI Product Content panel doesn't show
- Check Enable AI Content Tools and at least one Content Type (General tab).
- Open Screen Options at the top of the product edit screen and tick AI Product Content.
- The panel isn't available in WooCommerce's new block-based product editor; use the classic product editor.
Generate buttons are disabled
No provider is connected. Store managers see a "Set up your AI provider" button; other users should ask a store manager.
Attributes disappear on a new product
Save the product as a draft first, then generate and save attributes.
Descriptions are cut short
Raise Maximum Response Tokens (AI Connector), especially for long descriptions or several languages.
A bulk job is paused or not moving Pro
- Paused with a provider message (key, quota, model): fix it, then Resume.
- Waiting after many requests: Free's hourly or daily request limit was reached; it continues after an hour, or raise the limits on the AI Connector tab.
- Not moving: jobs need WP-Cron or Action Scheduler to run. Check Tools → Scheduled Actions, and keep the Bulk Generate tab open: while it's open, a job that hasn't moved for 10 minutes is restarted.
- "Paused: the Pro license is not active.": renew or check the license, then Resume.
- "Paused: Siteryn AI Product Content Pro was deactivated.": reactivate Pro, then Resume.

"Siteryn AI Product Content Pro is almost ready" Pro
Pro needs the free Siteryn AI Product Content plugin and WooCommerce installed and active. Click the notice's Activate Siteryn AI Product Content (or Install) button. If the notice asks you to update the Free plugin, update it first.
