SEO Insights & bulk tools
What to fix, merge, link and write next, computed from your own content, plus tools to edit many entries at once and rule-based templates and indexing. No traffic, ranking or AI data is used.
SEO Insights
Rebuilt every time the Content Audit runs ("No insights yet" until then). Each list shows 15 rows; everything can be exported as CSV from Reports.
- Cards: Opportunities, Competing groups, Near-duplicates, Missing cluster links, Due for an update, Content gaps
- Opportunities list
| Report | How it's found |
|---|---|
| Opportunities | The changes most likely to pay off: well-linked entries with a weak SEO score (under 60) or thin content, linked entries without a focus keyphrase, and strong entries (80+) nothing links to. |
| Keyword Cannibalization | Entries with the same focus keyphrase, or the same set of title words. Give each a distinct focus, or merge them and redirect. |
| Near-Duplicate Content | Entries whose text is almost the same (a text fingerprint, for entries of 80+ words). Search engines pick one and ignore the rest. |
| Topic Clusters & Internal Links | Entries about the same topic (3+), the best pillar page, and the links missing between the pillar and its members. |
| Content Decay | Entries not updated for Content Is Stale After months, or whose title names a past year. Well-linked entries first. |
| Content Gaps | Topics 4+ entries discuss but none is about (in its title or focus keyphrase). Each could deserve its own page; with AI on, "Outline with AI". |
| Search Intent Mix | How many entries target informational, commercial, transactional and navigational searches. |
In Pro Features. Entries not updated for this long are listed under Content Decay and get a freshness check. Thin content uses the free plugin's content minimum (300 words).
Search intent
Read from the title, focus keyphrase and headings:
| Intent | Signals (examples) |
|---|---|
| Informational | how to, what is, why, guide, tutorial, tips, examples, checklist, faq |
| Commercial | best, top, review, vs, compare, alternatives, pros and cons, recommended |
| Transactional | buy, price, deal, discount, coupon, order, shop, booking, download, quote, near me (and every product) |
| Navigational | login, contact, about us, my account, support, careers, locations |
Extra checks in the SEO box
| Check | What it says |
|---|---|
| Search intent | The detected intent, and whether the format fits: how-to content needs numbered steps, comparison and "best" pages a list or table, transactional pages a link to where visitors can act. |
| Competing entries | Other entries targeting the same keyphrase or title words at the last audit. |
| Near-duplicate content | Entries whose text was almost the same at the last audit. |
| Content freshness | The title names a past year, or the entry wasn't updated for the stale period (not for products). |
Bulk SEO Editor
SEO → Bulk SEO Editor. Edit SEO fields of many entries on one screen. Values are saved exactly as in each entry's SEO box.
- Content type and Show filters
- Rows with SEO title, meta description (with counters), focus keyphrase, Search results
- Find entries
Pick a Content type and what to Show: All entries; Missing SEO title, meta description or focus keyphrase; or entries from a report (Due for an update, Near-duplicates, Competing entries, True orphans, GEO opportunities). Click Show Entries.
- Edit
Each row has the SEO title (counter to 60), meta description (counter to 160), focus keyphrase and Search results (Default, Index, Noindex). With AI on, "Draft with AI" suggests a description.
- Prefill (optional)
Fill Empty Descriptions From Content fills empty descriptions in the form from each entry's excerpt or opening sentences (up to 155 characters): "12 descriptions filled. Review them, then save."
- Save
Save Changes saves the 20 entries on this page; only changed fields are written. Entries you can't edit are skipped.
The 2,000 most recent entries of a type are listed, 20 per page.
Advanced Indexing Rules
Turn on Advanced Indexing Rules (off by default), then Crawl & Indexing → Indexing Rules. These set the default robots tag; an entry's or category's own robots setting always wins.
Products and the front page are never affected.
One per line as taxonomy:slug, e.g. category:announcements. These entries are also left out of the sitemap.
One per line, e.g. post_tag:misc. Also left out of the sitemap.
3 keeps page 4 and later of every archive out of search results; links on them are still followed.
Addresses with ?sort=… and similar get noindex. Pagination, search, WordPress's own and tracking parameters (utm_*, gclid, fbclid…) never trigger it.
Comma-separated names that keep a URL indexable, e.g. lang. Write them in lowercase.
Advanced Title & Meta Templates
Turn on Advanced Title & Meta Templates (off by default), then SEO → Meta Templates. Each content type and taxonomy gets its own Title Template and Description Template, used for entries and archives without their own SEO title or description. Leave one empty to keep the Titles & Meta default.
