Titles & meta
Templates give every page a good title and description automatically. Write your own in an entry's SEO box whenever a page deserves one.
- Title Separator buttons
- Template fields with placeholder chips and a live preview with length meter
Title separator
The character between parts of a title, written {sep} in templates: None, -, – (default), —, |, ·, •, », / or :.
Templates
Each template has click-to-insert placeholder chips, a ↺ button to restore its default and a live preview built from your real site data with a length meter.
| Template | Default | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| Content Title | {title} {sep} {site} | Posts, pages, products and every other entry without an SEO title. Must contain {title}. |
| Homepage Title | {site} {sep} {tagline} | The homepage, unless a static front page has its own SEO title. |
| Homepage Meta Description | {tagline} | The homepage, unless a static front page has its own description. |
| Category, Tag & Taxonomy Archives | {term} {page} {sep} {site} | Term archives without an SEO title. |
| Post Type Archives | {post_type} {page} {sep} {site} | |
| Author Archives | {author} {page} {sep} {site} | |
| Date Archives | {date} {page} {sep} {site} | |
| Search Results | Search results for “{search}” {page} {sep} {site} | |
| Page Not Found (404) | Page not found {sep} {site} |
Other descriptions aren't templated: an entry without its own description uses its excerpt or content (see Fallback Meta Description). Translate the Search and 404 templates by editing them on non-English sites.

Empty or unknown placeholders disappear, and doubled or dangling separators are removed. Placeholders also work in the SEO title, description and social fields of each entry. Pro adds more, including product placeholders: Advanced templates.
Head Tags & Social
Titles & Meta → Head Tags & Social:
Print them for every page. Turning it off also stops the automatic noindex rules; keep it on unless another SEO plugin is in charge.
When no description is saved, use the excerpt or the start of the content (for terms, the term description), cut at about 160 characters.
Open Graph, X cards, X username and default social image are on the same screen: Social sharing.
Analysis Checks
Titles & Meta → Analysis Checks chooses which checks run (all on by default): Image Checks, GEO Analysis, AEO Analysis, Readability Checks, Duplicate Checks and Product Schema Checks. See SEO analysis.
Writing good titles
- Put the main topic first, and keep titles within 30–60 characters so they aren't cut off.
- Every page should have a unique title and description; the analysis flags duplicates.
- Write descriptions of 120–160 characters that say what the visitor gets.
