Redirect Manager

Redirects beyond single addresses: whole sections, patterns, automatic redirects when an address changes, hit counts, chain and loop detection and suggested fixes for 404 errors.

ProCrawl & Indexing → Redirect Manager

Turn on Redirect Manager under Pro Settings → Pro Features (off by default). Exact redirects under the free Redirects & 404s are applied first and keep working.

  • Add form: Match, From, To, Type
  • Rules table with Hits, Last hit and Source
  • 404 suggestions with "Add 301 Redirect"

Adding a redirect

MatchExampleResult
Exact path/old-page → /new-pageOnly that address (case, trailing slash and query string ignored).
Path and everything below it/old-shop → /shop/*/old-shop/mugs → /shop/mugs. End the target with * to keep the rest of the path; without it, everything goes to the target.
Pattern (regular expression)^/blog/(\d{4})/(.+)$ → /news/$2Matched against the path; $1–$9 insert captured parts. Case-insensitive.

Type: 301 Moved permanently, 302 Found (temporary), 307 Temporary redirect, or 410 Gone (no target). Targets are a path starting with / or a full http(s) address. The home page can't be a source.

Order: free exact redirects → Pro exact → Pro "path and below" (longest first) → patterns (in the order added). Up to 1,000 redirects, 100 of them patterns. To change a redirect, delete it and add it again.

Matching ignores case and the query string, and the visitor's query string isn't carried to the target.

Automatic redirects

Redirect Changed Addresses
Default On

In Pro Features. When the address of a published entry or a category changes, a 301 redirect from the old address is added (Source: "Address changed"). Redirects that pointed to the old address are updated, so no chains form.

Fixing 404 errors

With Log 404 Errors on in the free Redirects & 404s, the 20 most-hit missing addresses appear with a suggested target: an entry with the same slug, or the closest match by search. Click Add 301 Redirect.

A redirect for this source already exists.Delete it first.
That redirect would point to itself or create a redirect loop.Point it at the final address.
The source must be a path starting with "/" …Use a path (not the home page) or a valid pattern.
The maximum number of redirects has been reached.Combine them with a "path and below" or pattern rule.
Pro redirects stop while the license is inactive, and deleting Pro removes them. Adding and deleting redirects is for administrators.
