Smart coupons

Give a campaign email a unique, single-use discount code that can't be shared or abused, and that applies itself when the cart comes back.

ProSet per email in the campaign builder

Adding a coupon to an email

  1. Open a campaign email

In the campaign builder, expand the Coupon section of the email, between Button text and Design. Or insert the Discount nudge template, which comes with a 10% coupon that expires in 3 days.

  2. Tick the box

"Include a unique coupon in this email (use {coupon_code} in the text)".

  3. Choose the discount

Set the type, amount, expiry and any restrictions, then save the campaign.

  • Email 1 with the Coupon section open
  • Percentage off, amount 10, expires after 7 days, minimum spend 0
  • Only for product / category IDs and "Only the customer's own email address can use it"

Coupon options

Discount
Default Percentage off

Percentage off, Fixed amount off or Free shipping.

Amount
Default 10

Two decimals. Percentages are capped at 100. Not used for free shipping.

Expires after (days)
Default 7Range 1–90

Counted from when the email is sent. A short expiry adds gentle urgency.

Minimum spend
Default 0

The coupon only works above this cart subtotal. 0 means no minimum.

Only for product IDs · Only for category IDs
Up to 50 each

Limit the discount to certain products or categories, for example 12, 34.

Only the customer's own email address can use it
Default On

WooCommerce checks the billing email at checkout, so a forwarded or posted code is useless to anyone else.

The coupon code

Each coupon is a normal WooCommerce coupon you can see under Marketing → Coupons:

Showing the code in the email

Put {coupon_code} anywhere in the subject, Subject B, heading, message or button text:

Hi {first_name},

Still thinking it over? Here's 10% off your cart at {store_name}.
Use the code {coupon_code} — it's yours for the next 3 days.

If your message doesn't mention the code, this line is added for you: "Use the code SAC-… at checkout. It is applied automatically when you use the button below."

Applied automatically

When the shopper clicks the button in the email that carried the coupon, their cart is restored and the coupon is applied. They don't have to copy or type anything. WooCommerce still checks expiry, usage and the email restriction as usual.

Abuse protection

Developers can change the per-address limit with the siteryn_abandoned_cart_pro_coupons_per_address filter.

Coupon reporting

Analytics shows Coupons used (used / issued) and the total Discount given.
