FreePro

General

Does it work without WooCommerce?

No. Without an active WooCommerce 8.0 or newer, the plugin stays off and shows a notice with a button to install or activate WooCommerce. It never causes an error.

Is the Free plugin really complete?

Yes. Tracking with consent options and exclusions, detection, a branded recovery email with product images, secure links, unsubscribes, recovered-cart alerts, the dashboard with its chart, the cart list with bulk actions and CSV export, and privacy tools are all in Free, with no limits or time trial. Pro adds campaigns, coupons, templates, segments, analytics and reports, webhooks, the on-site prompt, and AI writing and insights.

Does it work with the block checkout?

Yes, both the classic and the block (Cart & Checkout blocks) checkout are supported, as is High-Performance Order Storage.

Will it slow down my store?

No. Nothing loads on the storefront except one small script on the checkout, ordinary pages run no extra database queries, and all heavy work happens in the background every five minutes.

Does it work on multilingual stores?

Yes. With WPML or Polylang, each cart remembers the shopper's language, and the email and link use it. The email texts can be translated with WPML String Translation or Polylang Strings.

Emails & recovery

How long after leaving does the shopper get the email?

Abandoned After (60 minutes) plus Send After (0 minutes) by default, so about an hour, give or take the five-minute check. With Pro campaigns you set each email's wait.

Can someone abuse the checkout to email other people?

No. Each address gets at most one recovery email per day (you can change the interval), requests are rate limited, only one Free email is ever sent per cart, and every email has an unsubscribe link.

Can customers unsubscribe?

Yes. Every email has an unsubscribe link and a one-click unsubscribe header. Unsubscribed addresses never get a cart reminder again, from Free or Pro. Customers can opt back in from the same page. See Unsubscribe.

Do I need consent to save guest carts?

That depends on your local rules. The plugin gives you three modes: a notice, a notice with a "No thanks" link that deletes the saved cart, or a checkbox guests must tick before anything is saved. See Consent at checkout.

Can I get an email when a cart is recovered?

Yes. Turn on Notify Me of Recovered Carts under Recovery Email → Admin Notifications. With Pro you can also get a daily or weekly digest.

Does a customer who already bought get a reminder?

No. Before marking a cart abandoned, the plugin checks for a paid or on-hold order from the same email. If it finds one, the cart is closed without an email.

Are opens tracked?

Not by default. The Free plugin measures neither opens nor clicks: it counts only real recoveries. Pro measures recovery-link clicks. With Pro you can turn on Reports → Track Email Opens: campaign emails then carry a tiny image served by your own store. Opens are approximate, because some email apps load every image and others block them, and only emails sent after you turn it on are counted.

Where does the recovery link take the shopper?

Straight to the checkout, with their cart rebuilt and a "Welcome back!" message. Developers can change it with siteryn_abandoned_cart_recovery_redirect.

Do email security scanners count as recoveries?

No. Mail systems such as Microsoft Safe Links, Mimecast or Proofpoint open links before the customer does. Known scanners restore nothing, and a cart counts as recovered only once the shopper's own browser confirms the visit, or an order is placed. See Email security scanners.

What if a product is out of stock when they come back?

It is left out, quantities are lowered to what's in stock, and the shopper sees a clear message about what changed.

Technical

Does it work with page caching?

Yes. It runs on the cart and checkout, which caches skip, and on its recovery link, which sends no-cache headers. With a very aggressive cache, exclude URLs containing siteryn-recover.

My host disables WP-Cron. What do I do?

Set up a real cron job that calls wp-cron.php every five minutes. See Troubleshooting.

What happens when I deactivate or delete the plugin?

Deactivating keeps everything and stops the scheduled tasks. Deleting removes its settings, saved carts and the unsubscribe list. Your WooCommerce orders are never changed. See Deactivating and deleting.

Can I customize the email design?

Yes. On the Design card set your logo, button colour, header background and product images. With Pro, each campaign email can have its own design. For deeper changes, override the template in your theme. See Design.

Can I stop tracking my staff or certain products?

Yes. Use Exclusions on the Cart Tracking tab to exclude user roles, products or categories.

Can I export carts?

Yes. Export CSV on the Carts tab downloads every cart matching your filters. With Pro, Analytics has its own CSV export.

Pro & licensing

What happens when my license expires?

Pro features pause, and the Free plugin's own recovery email takes over. Links in emails already sent keep working, nothing is deleted, and privacy tools keep running. See When a license expires.

Do I need an AI account?

No. AI is optional and off by default. If you use it, you choose the provider and pay them directly. Your key is encrypted on your server.

Is customer data sent to the AI provider?

Never. Writing sends your store name and campaign brief; insights send only aggregated totals (and campaign or product names if you allow it).

Can I send events to more than one tool?

Yes. Pro supports up to 10 webhook endpoints, each with its own events and secret. See Webhooks.

Can I move my license to another site?

Yes. Click Deactivate on the License tab of the old site, then activate on the new one.

How do I verify webhook requests?

Each request has X-Siteryn-Signature: sha256=<hex>, an HMAC-SHA256 of "{timestamp}.{raw body}" with your signing secret. See Verifying the signature.
