Quick start
Five minutes from activation to your first recovered cart. The defaults are sensible, so most stores only need to set the sender and switch the email on.
1. Check cart tracking
Go to Siteryn → Abandoned Cart → Cart Tracking. The defaults work for most stores:
- Enable Cart Tracking: on.
- Guest Carts: on. Guests are recorded once they type their email at checkout.
- Abandoned After: 60 minutes. This suits most stores. Lower it to 30 for impulse products, or raise it for considered purchases.
- Consent Mode: Notice. Choose "Notice + No thanks" or "Checkbox required" if your privacy rules ask for it (see Consent).
- Exclusions: tick your staff roles (Administrator, Shop manager) so test carts never appear.
The sidebar card Tracking Status confirms "Tracking carts".
- Cart Tracking card: Enable Cart Tracking, Guest Carts, Abandoned After
- Consent card with the three Consent Mode choices
- Tracking Status and Reset to Defaults in the sidebar
2. Set up the recovery email
Open the Recovery Email tab.
- Sender
Set Sender Name to your store name and Sender Email to an address on your own domain, for example
hello@your-store.com. Leave them empty to use the sender from WooCommerce → Settings → Emails. - Content
The default subject, heading, message and button already read well. Edit them to match your brand voice. You can use
{first_name},{store_name},{cart_total}and{unsubscribe_url}. - Design
On the Design card, choose your Logo and, if you like, a Button Color and Header Background. Product Images are on by default.
- Optional: get notified
Turn on Notify Me of Recovered Carts under Admin Notifications to get an email for every recovered order.
- Save Changes
Click Save Changes at the top. Settings save without reloading the page.
3. Preview and send a test
In the sidebar card Preview & Test:
- Preview Email opens the email in a dialog, with a Desktop/Mobile switch, built from your saved settings and a sample cart of up to two of your products.
- Send Test Email sends it to the address in Send a test to, which is your own email by default.
- The test email opened in Gmail or Apple Mail
- Logo, heading, product table with pictures, Cart total
- The button and the unsubscribe link
4. Turn the email on
Switch on Send Recovery Email and save. It is off by default so you can check everything first.
5. Try it yourself
The best test is a real one. In a private browser window:
- Add a product to the cart
Use any product in your store.
- Start checkout as a guest
Type an email address you can read in the billing email field, then close the window.
- Find the cart
The cart appears on the Carts tab as Active.
- Send the email now
Click Send now under the cart in the list, or open it and click Send recovery email now, instead of waiting an hour.
- Open the link
Click the button in the email. Your cart is restored and you land on the checkout. The cart's timeline shows "Recovery link opened", and once the checkout page has loaded in your browser, the cart turns Recovered.
